THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PAIR-CHECK TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE AT THE EIGHT GRADE OF MTsN PARTEKER 2 PAMEKASAN

Grammar is important aspect in language teaching because it is the language that makes it possible for us to talk about language. One of grammatical structures in English is simple present tense. Pair-check technique is one of technique in cooperative learning who makes students active in the class and interesting with the topic.
There are tworesearch focuses of this research. Thefirst is Does the students taugh using pair-check technique have higher achievement on students ability in teaching simple present tense at the eight grade of MTsNParteker 2 Pamekasan?The second, is Is there significant different of students skill of using pair-check technique in teaching simple present tense at at the eight grade of MTsNParteker 2 Pamekasan?
Thisresearch use quantitative research where the data is analyzed by using statistical procedure. This research uses pre-experimental research which is the kinds of experimental research. It is also consist of pre-test and post-test. The subject of this research is the students at the eight grade of MTsN Parteker 2 Pamekasan. The researcher take the sample in the VII-B class which consist of 36 students. The research instrument are the test and documentation.
The result of this research is there is significant different in the students skill by using pair-check technique at the eight grade of MTsN Parteker 2 Pamekasan. Data shows that the score of students from pre-test is different from the score of post-test. It proves from the result of t value which higher than t table even in 5% or 1%. It means the hypothesis of this research is alternative hypothesis which states that the students learning simple present tense by using pair-check technique achieve better students skill than those using others technique.
