Vocabulary is complicated to be learn. There are some aspects that should be learn in mastering vocabulary: they are meaning of the word, form of the word and use of the words, pronunciation of the word, and spelling of the words. So, clustering technique is the way to get new vocabulary.
There are two problem statements in this study. The first is whether there is an effect of clustering technique on students' vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of MTs Al-Makkiyah Kamoning Sampang. The second is how significance of clustering technique effects students' vocabulary at seventh grade of MTs Al¬ Makkiyah Kamoning Sampang.
This study is to know whether there is an effect of clustering technique on students' vocabulary and measure the significance of clustering technique in teaching vocabulary.this research is quantitative research and the design that are used in this study is pre experimental design namely one group pre-test post-test, there are two kinds of variable namely independent and dependent. The independent variable (variable x) is the using of clustering technique in teaching vocab, while dependent variable (variable Y) is students vocabulary mastery.
In this study, the population is all the seventh grade of MTs Al-Makkiyah Kamoning Sampang that consisting 21 students. Research instrument which are used are test and documentation . The research took a place for one week, from 24"d March - 0251 April 20 I 6. The obtained data from test was analyzed by using t-test fonnula.
The result showed that there is an influence of using clustering technique to the students vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of MTs Al-Makkiyah Kamoning Sampang and the significant of using clustering technique effect the students' vocabulary at the seventh grade of MTs Al-Makkiyah kamoning sampang is high. Theoritically statement above are supported by the result of research. It proves with t-value is•higher than t-ble,.either.5%, 1% (5% = 2,086
< 3,5 I 6) or (1% = 2,845 < 3,5 6). w • • ' •
Based on the result above, it is suggested for English teacher aid the students to increase their vocabulary. The English teacher should have appropriate the technique that suitable with material and students' ability. The technique also can make the students more interesting, easier, and enjoyable. So the students can spirit to follow teaching learning process.
