THE STUDENTS' STRATEGIES IN SOLVING SPEAKING DIFFICULTIES IN SPEAKING CLASS OF THE SECOND SEMESTER OF TBI DEPARTMENT AT STAIN PAMEKASAN

Speaking has an important role in our daily life to make good relationship and do not cause misunderstanding each others. In speaking process there is speaker, listener, message and feedback. In speaking, the students often faced some difficulties. Speaking difficulty is a problem that is often faced by the student and it causes the student difficult to be good in speaking. Sometimes, speaking difficulty occurs because of some factors. That is why sometimes the student silence more than to speak. But the students have their own strategy or method to solve their problem in speaking and each student absolutely has different strategy.
The objectives of this research are to identify kind of difficulties in speaking that often faced by the students, to describe the students strategies to solve the problem of their speaking difficulties and to explain how the students use their strategies to solve their problem of their speaking difficulties.
In this research there are scope and limitation. The scope of this study is the strategies that student used in solving their difficulties in speaking and the limitation is the second semester student in English Teaching and Learning Program of Tarbiyah Department at STAIN Pamekasan. This study is designed by qualitative research, with descriptive research kind of study during the researcher analizes by descriptive analysis to answer research focuses.
The result of this study shows that kinds of speaking difficulties faced by students are lack of vocabulary, poor of grammar mastery, mispronunciation and anxiety. The strategies used by students to solve those difficulties are meory strategies; grouping and representing sounds in memory. Cognitive strategies; taking notes, practicing naturalistically, and repeating. Compensation strategies; using linguistic or other clues, switching to the mother tongue, use mime or gesture. Metacognitive strategies; pay attention and planning for language task. Affective strategies; making positive statement and relaxing. Social strategies; cooperating with peers, asking for correction, asking for clarification and verification.. . • " . ,
Based on the resolt of study above, •it sugg sted for the other researcher who want to conduct the research about students' strategies with different aspect.
Hopefully, this study give new knowledge for all, especially in education context
