THE EFFECTSOF READING MAGAZINE ON STUDENTS'WRITING SKILL AT THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MA NABDLATUL ATHFAL OMBEN SAMPANG

Writing ski ll is important to apply the vocabulary, spelling and grammar. Student that learning English have to learn writing. Writing is the complex art because writing need spelling ability, structure, and vocabulary they have learned. In learning English the reading has to be mastered. When they can read an English article, they can write an English article. Many ways can be used to read an English article, one of them is an English magazine. From the English magazine, students will know about the content of English article and how the way to write it. Reading is an activity or process to get and to bring meaning and it is also to understand written language. By reading magazi ne, we can get any information.
There are two problems in this study. The first one, is there any
effect of reading magazine strategy on students' writing skill at the tenth grade students of MA Nahdlatul Athfal Omben Sampang. The second is how statistical significance of the effect of reading magazine strategy on students' writing skill at the tenth grade of MA Nahdlatul Athfal Omben Sampang. This study is to know the effects of reading magazine strategy on students' writing skill at the tenth grade students of MA Nahdlatul Athfal Omben Sampang. The second is to measure the significance of the effect of readi ng magazi ne strategy on students' writing ski ll at the tenth grade of MA. NahdlatuJ Athfal Omben Sampang. There are two variables
in this study: they are readi ng magazine strategy, as independent variable, and students' writi ng skill as dependent variable.
This research use quantitative approach because the data is
numerical and the analysis uses statistic. The research design of this research is usi ng pre-experi mental research design and it is usually called the one group pretest-posttest design.The population in this research is the tenth grade students of MA Nahdlatul Athfal Omben Sampang which contains of six classes and totally consists of 228 students. The researcher takes one of six classes as the sample of research, and the researcher implement reading magazine strategies on writing skill in the classroom which contains of 39 students. In this study, the researcher uses documentation and test as the instruments of research to collect the data. The test here are pre-test and post-test. Pre-test is conducted to know students' ability before given the treatment , in this case reading magazine strategies. Form of the pre-test here is write a text. After the pre-test isgiven to the students, they are given treatment by the teacher. Treatment here is done by using reading magazine strategies. Meanwhile post-test is conducted after given the treatment. Form of post-test here is essay by usi ng note-taking strategies. The obtained data from the tests was analyzed by using t test formula.
The result of t-test analysis shows the value as 5.771. Then, after it is compared with the t-table (ti) in significance level 5%, it is higher (t0:
5.095 > ti: 2024). Therefore, it shows that the null hypothesis is rejected
which means there is no effect of reading magazine strategy, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted which means it has an effect on students' writing skill at the tenth grade students of MA Nahdlatul Athfal Omben Sampang.
Based on result above, it is suggested for English teacher to be a
good facilitator during the process of teaching and learning writing skill by using the good strategy like reading magazine strategy to make the students are easier to comprehend the writing materials. It is also suggested for students at MA NahdlatuJ Athfal to be serious in teaching and learning process especially in writing skill, because it need a lot of concentration to get the knowledge in that lesson. It is also suggested for the future researcher which the result of the research can used as a reference or input to conduct further research dialing with a similar topic by using different research design or different kinds of the strategy that is
implemented.
