Writing is one of the four language skill beside speaking, listening, and reading. Writing is a complex process There are some features of writing, one of them, In this process of teaching and learning English, writing ability is the most difficult and complicated language skill to be learned almost by the students in every level of education. In writing English need the special abilities such as grammar, vocabulary, etc. Complex sentence is a sentence that combines one independent clause with at least one dependent clause. The students' eighth grade has difficulties' with the using complex sentence to compose recount text.
The problems of study, there are they are two points. The first is how students arranged the complex sentences to compose recount text. The second what grammatical errors made by the students in using complex sentences to compose recount text?
The objectives of this research there are two points. The first is to describe the use of complex sentence compose recount text among the students of writing skill. The second is to find the grammatical errors made of eight grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Pamekasan.
The researcher use qualitative research as approach of research and descriptive as kind of research. Sources of data is English teacher in students eight grade at A, and B class and the students in this class. In collect the data, the researcher use research procedures are observation, interview and documentation. And then the researcher analyze with reduction, display and verification. In addition, to get the validity of data the researcher uses source triangulation.
The result of this research states that the students arrange of complex sentences to compose recount text there are three points, they are; the arrange of complex sentence with noun clause, and the arrange of complex sentence with adverb clause.
From the statement above, it is important for the English teacher to give more attention in correcting students' written assessment, to be more aware to the students' grammatical, and to give more motivation and spirit to their students. It is also suggested for students to be confident and believe that they can, to be more pay attention to their grammatical when write, and to apply the new vocabulary in the classroom.
