The problems of study, there are they are two points. The first is do the female students have higher reading comprehension achievement than male students at the seventh grade of MTs AZ-ZUBAJR Pamekasan. The second is there any statistically significant difference between male and female students in reading comprehension achievement at the seventh grade of MTs AZ-ZUBAlR Parnekasan.
The objectives of this research there are two points. The first is to know the comparison between male and female students in reading comprehension achievement at the seventh grade ofMTs AZ-WBAlR Pamekasan. The second is to measure the statistical significant difference between male and female students in reading comprehension achievement at the seventh grade of MTs AZ-ZVBAJR Pamekasan. The hypothesis of this research uses alternative hypothesis that stated the female students have higher reading comprehension achievement than male students at the seventh grade of MTs AZ-ZUBAJR Pamekasan. There are two variables of this research. Reading comprehension as dependent variable and male and female students as independent variable.
The research design of this research is ex-post facto or causal comparative design. The population in this research is the students at the seventh grade of MTs AZ-ZUBAIR Pamekasan. The total number of population is 90 students. That consist of 45 male students and 45 female students as a sample of this research. The research instrumens which is used is test and documentation. The data of this reseacrh is analyze by using t-test.
The result of this research states that there is statistical significant difference between male and female students at the sevents grade of MTs AZĀ¬ZUBAIR Pamekasan in reading comprehension achievement. It is provent by the t-value scores of this research is 2,906. Moreover, the t-table is 2,63 in level significant 1% and 1,99 in level significant 5% with the degree of freedom 90. Actually, the degree of freedom is 88, because there is no the degree of freedom 88, so the researcher choosed the closest value of 88, it is 90. So the t-value is higher than t-table (2,906 > 2,63) in significant level 1 % and (2,906 > 1,99) in significant level 5%.
Based on the result above, it is important for the English teacher to pay attention more to the students' improvement in studying English, especially in reading because reading is one of ways to get information and knowledge. It is suggested for students of MTs AZ-ZUBAIR Pamekasan to have reading habits to help forward development of knowledge and for researcher is to improve the students in reading comprehension.
