Nurul Jannah,2017, The Correlation Between Imitation and Reinforcement Theory and young learners ' English Achievment at the Fifth Grade of SDN Blumbungan II Larangan Pamekasan. Undergraduate, Thesis, English Teaching Learning Program (TBI) The State of Islamic College (STAIN) Pamekasan. Advisor; Eva Nikmatul Rabbiyanty, M.Pd.
Keywords: Imitation and Reinforcement Theory, English Achievment
Imitation theory is claims that children learn language by listening to the speech around them and reproducing what they hear. Reinforcement theory itself is asserts that children learn to speak like adults because they are praised, rewarded, or otherwise reinforced when they use the right forms and are corrected when they use wrong forms.
There are two research problems in this research: Do the imitation and reinforcement theory have positive correlation with their english achievment at the fifth grade of SDN Blwnbungan II Larangan Pamekasan and How significance is the correlation between imitation and reinforcement theory and english achievment at the fifth grade at the fifth grade of SDN Blwnbungan II Larangan Pamekasan.
There are two objectives of study in this reserch. The first is to know the imitation and reinforcement theory have a positive correlation and their english achievment at the fifth grade of SDN Blumbungan TI Larangan Pamekasan. and the second is to measure the significance of the correlation between imitation and reinforcement theory and their english achievment at the fifth grade of SDN Blumbungan II Larangan Pamekasan.
There are 2 classes at the fifth grade of SDN Blumbungan II Larangan Pemekasan the total of all students is 57 students. In this research, the researcher choose B class consists 29 students as a subject. These research instruments that are used by the researcher are questionnaire (imitation and reinforcement theory) and test (english achievment) to collect data. So this research applied quantitative approach, in which data are analyzed by statically correlation product moment related to variable X (imitation and reinforcement theory) that got from questionnaire data. The researcher uses the questionnaire that is alternative answer by using "often", "sometime" and "seldom" and variable Y (english achievment) that got from test.
So, the conclusion, there is no correlation of imitation and reinforcement theory and their english achievement at the fifth grade of SDN Blumbungan II Larangan Pamekasan. It known that by using statistical analysis showed that the value of "rxy" (product moment) is 0,131. And consult to the value of "rxy" (product moment) to the value "r" table, that the value of (N=29) in level significance 5% is 0,339 and in level significant 1% is 0,449, the value of "rxy" (product moment) is lower than the value "r" table. And conduct on the table interpretation of "rxy" value, that the value of "rxy" is 0,131, it is know that "rxy" the value of this research is between interval 0.00-0.20 in sufficient low or weak level significance. So the alternative hypothesis is rejected because in low or weak correlation.
