THE STUDENTS' RESPONSES ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DIRECT METHOD IN LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY AT THE SIXTH GRADE OF SDI AL-MUNAWWARAH PAMEKASAN

In teaching learning English there are some aspect that must be considered by the teacher before going to teach. One of them is what method that will be used in the class. Because by suitable method for student and the topic that will be discussed, it will make teaching learning process become easier. There are some method that teacher can used in teaching learning process, one of them is direct method. In this method English languge is used to communicate with each other without using Indonesian language anymore. When this method is applied in the class, absolutely there some reponses of students will be appear.
The goal of this research are to know students' responses on the implementation of direct method in learning English vocabulary at the sixth grade of SDI Al-Munawwarah Pamekasan and to know how the response appear from students on the implementation of direct method in learning English vocabulary at the sixth grade of SDI Al-Munawwarah Pamekasan.
In this research there is scope and limitation. The scope of this study is the students' responses on the implementation of direct method in learning English vocabulary. And the limitation is at the sixth grade of SDI Al-Munawwarah Pamekasan. This sutudy is designed by qualitative research, with descriptive research kind of study during the researcher tries to analyze and describe the answer of research focuses.
The result of this study showed that there are some responses appear from the students on implementation of direct method in learning Eglish vocabulary. The students' responses are specific responses: responding to the teacher by reading aloud when the students present their work in front of the class; responding to the teacher by dictation when the students asked to spell a word; choral-total and part of the class when the teacher ask question, open ended or student initiated response the students give their own opinion and ideas when the teacher ask about the picture, silence response showed by the sudents when they listen up the teacher explanation, laughing and giggling when the students find funny things, used the native language when they did not know the meaning of words, and non verbal responses by gesture when they are difficult to mention the words and facial expression when they are showing their emotions.
Based on the result of study above, it suggested for the other researcher who want to conduct the research about response of students with different aspect. Hopefully, this study give new knowledge for all, especially in education context.
