THE INFLUENCE OF USING REALIA TOWARD STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXAT THE FIRST GRADE MIA-3 OF SMAN 2 SAMPANG

Writing is one of language skills which needs more practice. It is a
complex and time consuming process. While Realia is three dimension things
which can be brought into the classroom as media such as boxes, doll, fruits and
toys.
There are two problem statements in this study. The first is the influence
of students taugh writing by using Realia than before they taught by using Realia
in teaching writing. The second is whether there is significant influence of Realia
on students writing skill at the first grade of SMAN 2 Sampang.
This study is to know the influence of Realia to the students writing skill
and measure the effectiveness of Realia in teaching writing. This research is
quantitative research and the design that are used in this study is Pre experimental
design namely one group pretest posttest,there are two kinds of variable namely
independent and dependent. The independent variable (variable x) is the using of
Realia in teaching writing, while dependent variable (variable Y) is students
writing skill.
Population of this research is the first grade of SMAN 2 Sampang that
consist of four classes, they are X MIA-1, X MIA-2, X MIA-3, and X MIA-4. The
researcher takes one class as sample. The class is the X MIA-3 that consist of 27
students. Research instrument which are used are test and documentation. The
research took a place for five weeks, from 22nd February –21 st March2016. The
obtained data from test was analyzed by using t-test formula.
The result showed that there is an influence of using Realia to the students
writing skill at the first grade of SMAN 2 Sampang and the significant of using
Realia influence students’ writing skill at the first grade of SMAN 2 Sampang
and the significant of using Realia influence students’ writing skill at the first
grade of SMAN 2 Sampang is high. Theoretically statement above are supported
by the result of research. It proves with t-value is higher than t-table either 5 %, 1
% ( 5% = 2,05 < 13,1995 ) or ( 1% = 2,77 < 13,1995 ).
Based on the result above, it is suggested for English teacher aid the
students to increase their writing skill. The English teacher should have
appropriate writing media because media is very important in teaching learning
process. The media can make the students more interesting, easier, and enjoyable
so the students can be spirit to follow writing subject. The students can understand
the material and make composition of writing easily.
