STUDENTS'PERSPECTIVE OF AN IDEAL SPEAKING SUBJECT LECTURER INENGLISH TEACHING LEARNING PROGRAM OF SEKOLAH TINGGI AGAMA ISLAM NEGERI PAMEKASAN

Speaking subject is an important subject in English teaching learnig program. It helps the students to have a good communication in English. A lecturer might be one of the important factors in guiding the students for achieving their learning goal. In this case, the speaking subject lecturer should have a good qualification of an ideal speaking subject lecturer. Not the entire lecturer is an ideal lecturer to teach in speaking subject class is undenieable thing. In this problem , the stakeholders should have a standard. The research focuses on: Firstly, what are the students' perspectives about the lecturer general knowledge in teaching speaking subject? Secondly, what are the students' perspectives about the lecturer skill in teaching speak i ng subject? Thirdly, what are the students' perspectives about the lecturer attitude in teaching speaking subject?
This research uses qualitative approach and descriptive research. To collect the data the researcher uses two data collection procedure, those are; interview and observation.
Based on the result of interview and observation. Students have
their own ideal criteria of an ideal speaking subject lecturer, those are; First, general knowledge. The lecturer should master many topics to be delivered to the students. The lecture should thoroughl y/deeply master the knowledge to anticipate students outside questions. Second, skill. The lecturer should actively teach to guide the students in achieving the learning goal. The lecturer should be aware that gesture/body language has an important role in communicating a message. The lecture should be aware of different levels of language proficiency of the students in order to give them the equal chance to improve their skill. Third, attitude. The lecturer should be a great motivator for the students. The lecturer should create a joyful learning atmosphere by loosing the students' stress and frustration. The lecturer should be discipline in attending and teaching learnig process.
Hopefully, this research provides good qualifying reference dealing with the criteria of an ideal speaking subject lecturer and become one of the considerations to have better speaking subject lecturer qualification in order to have better education. For the further research, it should have more specific topic to be discussed deeper.
