THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING READING AND RECALLING STRATEGY ON STUDENTS' READING ACHIEVEMENT IN READING COMPREHENSION AT THE TENTH GRADE OF STATE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1PADEMAWU

Reading as the important skill in learning English can help students easy understand more the content of the text. Reading materials have complex information. So that, the teacher should give appropriate reading strategy in teaching reading, by using reading and recalling strategy it make students easier in comprehend the content of the text especially in teaching narrative text.
There are two problems in this research. First, whether the students taught by using reading and recalling strategy has higher achievement on their reading comprehension or not. Second, the researcher wants to find out whether any significant effectiveness of using reading and recalling strategy on students' reading achievement in reading comprehension on narrative text. Based on the two problems of study, there are two objectives of study. To know the effectiveness of using reading and recalling strategy on students' reading achievement in reading comprehension at SMAN 1 Pademawu and to measure the significant effectiveness of using reading and recalling strategy on students' reading achievement in reading comprehension at SMAN 1 Pademawu.
The research design of this research uses quantitative approach exactly Pre-experimental research design, there are two variables in this research these are variaqJe X (reading and recalling strategy) and variable Y (students' reading comprehension) . The population inthis research is all of students in the tenth grade ot SMAN I Padctna.·The sample in this research is X-MIA 1 class consists of 24 students. The instruments used in collecting the data are test and documentation. This research was done not more than a month from 10th February 2016 until 5th March 2016, the technique of data analysis used by researcher is "t" test analysis.
The result of this research showed that using reading recalling strategy in reading comprehension on narrative text give significant effectiveness on students' reading comprehension. It is proved by the value of "t" test (11,59) is higher than the value of "t" table in significant 5% (2,06) and 1% (2,80) with n = 24.
Based on the result of this research above, there is significant effctiveness of using reading and recalling strategy on students' reading achievement in reading comprehension on narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Pademawu Pamekasan.
