THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEACHER' S ROLE AS A RESOURCE ON STUDENTS' WRITING AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF SMAN 5 PAMEKASAN

Writing is an activity of expressing ideas and thought in comprehensive written form by combining letters in order to form words phrases and sentences. The teachers can apply their role as a resource to improve students' writing skill. The teachers can stimulate the students to be creative people in order that the students become confident and enthusiastic writers.
There are two problem statements in this study. The first is whether the students who are helped by the teacher as a resource have higher achievement on their writing than before being helped by the teacher as a resource at the eleventh grade of SMAN 5 Pamekasan. The second is how significant is the effectiveness of teacher's role as a resource on students' writing at the eleventh grade of SMAN 5 Pamekasan.
This study uses quantitative research which the data analyzed by using statistical procedures. This research uses pre-experimental design namely one group pretest-posttest design. The subject of this research is the students at the eleventh grade of SMAN 5 Pamekasan. The researcher took a sample in XI MIPA-4 consisting 34 students. The research instruments are test and documentation.
The result of this study is that teacher's role as a resource is effective on students' writing at the eleventh grade of SMAN 5 Pamekasan. It is proven from the documentation data. The data shows that student's score of pretest is different from students' score of posttest. And there is significant statistical effect of teacher' s role as a resource on students' writing. It is proven from the result of t-value is higher than t table in 5% or 1% (5%= 2,03 < 14,2319) or (1%= 2,72 < 14,2319). It
means the hypothesis of this research is alternative hypothesis (Ha) that states the students who are helped by the teacher as a resource have higher achievement on the writing •than before being helped by the teacher as a resource. · .. ' •-
Based on the result above, it suggested to EngHsh teacher aid the students to improve the students' writing. English teacher has an important role for the students and the teacher can apply appropriate role in teaching process especially for teaching writing in order that the student more enthusiastic to do their activities or task at classroom. So the students can feel comfort in classroom activities with the teacher.
