THE CORRELATION OF THE STEPPING STONE GAME TO YOUNG LEARNERS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT AT THE SIXTH GRADE OF SDN BANDUNGAN 2 PAMEKASAN

The main problem of the research that are does the better the
teacher use the stepping stone game, the better young learners’
vocabulary achievement and how significant is the correlation of
Stepping Stone game to young learners’ vocabulary achievement at the
sixth grade of SDN Bandungan 2 Pakong Pamekasan.
In this research, the researcher used quantitative research. This
research uses non exprimental design namely correlational design
involve two variables, independent variable is stepping stone game and
dependent variable is vocabulary achievement. The population of this
research is the students of SDN Bandungan 2 Pakong Pamekasan also
as the sample of this research is the sixth grade consist of 19 students.
The result of research showed that using the stepping stone game
in learning vocabulary has significant correlation on students’
vocabulary achievement at the sixth grade of young learners in SDN
Bandungan 2 Pakong Pamekasan. It is proved from the result of data
analysis and hypothesis test. The mean score of data questionnaire in
variable X by using product moment formula and reliability test is
0.799 and the variable Y the score is 0.705 and the final score of two
variable by using product moment formula is 0.754. The result is higher
than rtable product moment with N=19 in significant level of 5% (0.754 >
0.456) and 1% (0.754 > 0.575). It include to the table interpretation
between 0.70-0.90 in the level strong correlation. Then the hypothesis
states that there is significant correlation of the stepping stone game to
young learners’ vocabulary achievement at the sixth grade of SDN
Bandungan 2 Pakong Pamekasan is accepted.
Based on the research result above can be concluded that using
the stepping stone game in learning vocabulary gives significant
correlation on students’ vocabulary achievement in young learners in
SDN Bandungan 2 Pakong Pamekasan. So, the teachers are expected
creatively in teaching process, create fun and interesting class, make
students more spirit and smart in learning English exactly learning
vocabulary, one of them is using game.
