THE INFLUENCE OF USING PERSONAL OPINIONS GAMES AS STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL AT EIGHT GRADE OF MTS AL-ABROR 2 AMBAT

Speaking is the important thing as a part of daily life that person
take it for granted. It means that the person produces tens or thousands of
words a day, although some people like auctioneers or politicians may
produce even more than that. And also with speaking the person can
increase pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary to make speaking skill
more fluently.
There are two problems in this research. The first one is whether
the students’ taught using Personal Opinions game as strategy have better
achievement towards students’ speaking skill at MTs Al-Abror 2 Ambat.
And the second one is how statistically significant of the using Personal
Opinions game as strategy towards students’ speaking skill at MTs AlAbror 2 Ambat.
In this study is quantitative approach and the design that use in this
study is pre-experimental design. There are two variables in this study; the
independent variable is Personal Opinions game and the dependent
variable is students’ speaking skill. The population in this study is all the
eight grade students of MTs Al-Abror 2 Ambat, while research intruments
are used test and documentation. The obtained data from test was analyzed
by using t-test formula. .
The result showed that the students’ taught using Personal
Opinions game as strategy have better achievement towards students’
speaking skill at MTs Al-Abror 2 Ambat and the influence is statistically
significant. It prove with t-value is higher than t-table either 5% or 1% .
5% (18,69 > 2,07) or 1% (18,69 > 2,81). So from the result above, it can
be concluded that Ha (hypothesis alternatif) is accepted and the Ho (null
hypothesis) is rejected. Using personal opinions game can help the teacher
in teaching speaking make the students more active and enjoyable during
joining the lesson in the class.

Based on the result above it is suggested for English teacher to
understand the students’ condition in the classroom. So the English teacher
can solve the students’ difficulty especially in speaking skill.
