STUDENT ACTIVITIES IN LEARNING SPEAKING ENGLISH OF ENGLISH CAMP 2016 AT SMAN 2 PAMEKASAN

Speaking is an interactive process of constructing meaning that involves
producing and receiving and processing information. To make student express
their feeling in spoken language the student must be master in speaking and the
student should try to always improve their skill in speaking. The researcher found
that one of school that has program to improve their speaking namely English
Camp. There are some activities in learning speaking, but many students have
some obstacles in learn it. In this research there are three research focuses, the
first is student activities in learning speaking English, the second is student
obstacles in learning speaking English and the last is the student solutions in
learning speaking English.
The researcher use qualitative research as approach of research and
descriptive as kind of research. A source of data are student D class of English
Camp at SMAN 2 Pamekasan. In collect the data, the researcher use observation,
interview and documentation. And then the researcher analyze with identifying
the data, classifying the data, analyzing the data and drawing conclusion. Besides
that, to get the validity of data the researcher uses source triangulation.
The result of this research shows that student activities in learning
speaking English are presentation and answering question, telling story and
speech. Many students have some obstacles in learning speaking, there are lack of
vocabulary, nonfluency, and lack of confidence. Most of students said those are
become the obstacles faced by the students. To overcome their problem, the
students has solution to solve it. The solution done by students in involves their
problem in learning speaking include memorizing vocabulary, speaking practice
and motivating themselves.
From the statement above, suggest to the English teacher to more selected
in apply the interesting strategies for the students and suitable with the students
condition and always give motivation to students increase their speaking skill with
always practice and enrich their vocabulary
