THE USE OF TEAM GAME TOURNAMENT TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING SPEAKING FOR THE EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS AT MTsN SAMPANG
The student should have ability to speak in order that they can communicate
one another. So through speaking, they can express their mind, ideas, and thought
freely and spontaneously. To begin with, speaking is used for many different
purposes, and each purpose involves different skill. In teaching speaking, the teacher
also must have good way to use the game or media to make their teaching process run
well and interesting. unfortunately, some student’s in MTsN Sampang still afraid and
shy to speak English, they keep silent during the classroom because the student’s
afraid to make a mistake if they speak especially in speaking. therefore, the teacher
apply team games tournamnet technique in teaching and learning process.
There are three problems of study that can be identifies as follow: 1. How
does the teacher use Team Game Tournament technique in teaching Speaking English
for the Eight Grade Students at MTsN Sampang? How does Team Game Tournament
technique accelerate teaching Speaking English for the Eight Grade Students at
MTsN Sampang? What are the students’ responds in using of Team Game
Tournament technique in teaching Speaking English for the Eight Grade Students at
MTsN Sampang?
In this research, the reseacher applies descriptive qualitative research
because the researcher will describe the use of Team Game Tournament technique in
teaching speaking English at MTsN Sampang. To get the data, the researcher
employs observation, interview and documentation. The data are analyzeived by
qualitative data analysis procedure: data reduction, data display and verification.
The result of the research show that the teacher use the technique well. The step
also were appropriate with the lesson plan. In this case, the teacher also did three
steps in the teaching and learning process at the classroom. They are pre-teaching,
whilst-teaching and post-teaching. Team games tournament technique can accelerate
for the students. They started to brave to speak in front of their friends, they are
enthusiastic in joining the speaking class, and they are enjoy when played this
technique. it because the picture that the teacher use were interesting. The response of
the eight grade students’ in MTsN Sampang are: The students were looked active
while the teaching and learning process, The students showed their development on
the creativity to express their idea in speaking skill, They were also pay attention well
to the teacher’s explanation and the last the students feel enjoyable during teaching
learning process.
The researcher gives some suggestions that The teacher should emphasize the
students to be active anf feel confidence in front of the class. In this case, the teacher
should give more opportunity to the students to express their idea. The students
should focus on the explanation and the instruction from the teacher in the
classroom.They also should respect and appreciate to the other students.
