Reading is very important for the students in learning English Language. Reading help the students enrich their knowledge about English. However, learning English is a difficult and a boring lesson for students, especially for reading subject. Therefore, it is important for the teacher to attract the students’ interest using a good media and choose suitable strategy, method and technique to guide the students to read and to comprehend the material. Herring-bone technique is six basic comprehension question: who?, what? , When?, where?, how?, and why? It makes the students easy to understand the content of text. It is also attract the students to be active reader.
This research consists of three focuses. they are how does the tutor implement the herringbone technique in teaching reading subject of recount text at beginner level studets of ANEC (An-Nasyiin English Course) Grujugan, Larangan, Pamekasan?, how the students responses of implementing the herringbone technique in teaching reading subject of recount text at beginner level studets of ANEC (An-Nasyiin English Course) Grujugan, Larangan, Pamekasan? and what are the obstacles of the implementing the herringbone technique in teaching reading subject of recount text at beginner level studets of ANEC (An-Nasyiin English Course) Grujugan, Larangan, Pamekasan?
In this research, the researcher used qualitative approach because this research focused mainly on analysis the implementation of herring-bone technique in teaching reading subject of recount text at beginner level students of ANEC (An-nasyiin English Course) Grujugan, Larangan, Pamekasan and also the researcher took the photos of some activities that have done by the teacher and the students when implemented the herring-bone technique in the class room as the documentation.
The result, the researcher found how the teacher implemented the herring-bone technique in teaching reading subject of recount text in the class room and teaching learning process is successful. Next, the students’ responses are students looked more active, motivated and interested in to the subject and the students looked so enthusiastic joining the subject in the class room.
