THE STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES IN DEVELOPING REACTION REPORT OF EXTENSIVE READING SUBJECT AT THE FOURTH SEMESTER OF TBI STAIN PAMEKASAN

Reading is one skill in English teaching which is an activity to
understand the text intensively or extensively. Intensive reading and
extensive reading are different on the study of the area and the goal itself.
Intensive Reading is read the short text to collect information, this activity
focus on how to be conduct the information clearly enough to understand,
extensive reading is read the long text usually this activity based on habit
and hobby and put the general understanding of some topic. So, in
extensive reading read the text that interested to the reader then try to find
the general understanding of the text, in extensive reading claims the
reaction report as the result proof by student’s after reading the text but in
a fact during presentation, there are so many students are confuse with
their reaction report as the result of their reading in extensive reading
subject.
There are two problems that conclude by researcher, the first, to
find the problem how the student’s difficulties in developing reaction
report of extensive reading subject at the foourth semster of TBI STAIN
Pameaksan, the second, what the factors influenced by students difficulties
in developing reaction report of extensive reading subject at the fourth
semseter of TBI STAIN Pamekasan. So this research will be explain the
student’s difficulties in developing reaction report of extensive reading
subject at the fourth semester of TBI STAIN Pamekasan. Even more to
describe the factors that influenced student’s difficulties in developing
reaction report of extensive reading subject at the fourth semster of TBI
STAIN Pamekasan.
To conduct this research, the researcher uses the qualitative
approach with descriptive kind. To take the data researcher uses
observation, interview and documentation as the instrument. The
researcher use the non participant observer to conduct the data then
continued with interview with students selected randomly with B and C
class. Researcher use method triangulation to know the validity of data.
The result, the researcher found the student’s difficulties in
developing reaction report such as, reading is not the habit of the student’s
dificut in applied extensive reading method, unbelievable with the result of
reaction report, don’t have any correlation between the text information
and reactoin report, diffuclt in finding the keyword of the text and difficult
in connecting each information of the paragraph.
