THE STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES IN USING IRREGULAR VERBS ON SPEAKING AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF MA. NURUS SALAFIYAH SEJATI CAMPLONG SAMPANG

Speaking is one of skill very important in English teaching learning. Through
speaking, they can express their mind, ideas, and thought freely and spontaneous.
There are many students at the eleventh grade of MA. Nurus Salafiyah SejatCamplong Sampang, fell difficult to speak English fluently, although in using the
irregular verb because of they still find many difficulties as like difficult, lack of
vocabulary and make some errors like the grammatical.
There are three research focuses in this study. The first, what are the students
difficulties in using irregular verb when they are speaking, the second, what the
factor that influences students difficulties in using irregular verb when they are
speaking and the third, how does the teacher solve students difficulties in using
irregular verb when they are speaking.
This research uses qualitative approach and uses descriptive research as kind
of research. The data got from the result observation, interview and
documentation. The informants are the English teacher and the students at the
eleventh grade of MA. Nurus Salafiyah Sejati Camplong Sampang. And then the
researcher analyzes with reduction, display and verification. In addition, to get the
validity of data the researcher uses triangulation source.
The result showed that problem in students difficulties in using the irregular
verb on speaking at the eleventh grade of MA. Nurus Salafiyah Sejati Camplong
Sampang. Such as, lack of motivation, lack of vocabulary, grammar and less
preparation in English learning. Then the factor is afraid of making mistake, unconfidence and between pronunciation and the written are different and the last is
the solutions, the improvement of vocabulary knowledge by memorizing, give
motivation to students, it is suggested for students to practice their English
language and also it is suggested for students to make small group, in order that
the students can sharing with other friends.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for English speaking, teacher to
prepare the teaching material appropriately, apply the interesting strategies for
students and always give motivation to the students increase their speaking skill
especially in using the irregular verb.
