THE EFFECT OF LISTENING ENGLISH SONG HABIT TO THE STUDENT’S PRONUNCIATION AT ELEVENTH GRADE OF MADRASAH ALIYAH NEGERI 2 PAMEKASAN

Listening is the ability to identify and understand what other is saying.
listening is the first communication skill we acquire and use. The abilities to
speak, read, and write are influenced by listening ability. Listening is the key to
learning the language because before people can speak, read and write, the first
communication skill that people acquire and use is listening skill. In fact, the
people start to listening before they were speak.
There are two research problems in this research, the first one is there any effect
of listening English song habit to students English pronunciation at eleventh
grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Pamekasan. And the second is how far the
significance of listening English song habit to the student’s English pronunciation
at eleventh grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Pamekasan.
This research applied quantitative research, which the data are analyzed by
using statistical procedure. This research use correlation of product moment that
involves two variables. They are variable X (Listening English song habit) and
variable Y (Student Pronunciation). The population in this study are all of the
student at eleventh grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negri Pamekasan. The researcher
use purposive sampling to determine the sample. The researcher chose to use one
class that eleventh grade of IPA1to take as sample . This class consists of 32
students which are 7 male students and 25 female students. To obtained the data,
the researcher use two instrument, they are questionnaire to obtained data about
listening English habit song and documentation to obtained data about student’s
pronunciation.
The result showed that there is correlation between listening English song
habit and student’s pronunciation at Madrasah Aliyah Negri Pamekasan. It proven
from the value of correlation between Listening English song habit and student’s
pronunciation get value of = 0,556. The value of this higher than r table in
significance 95% is 0,338 and on significance 99% 0,435.
