THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TIME TOKEN TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ENGLISH SKILL AT EIGHT GRADE OF ISLAMIC JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL MIFTAHUL ULUM II SUMBER LOGAN KARANG PENANG SAMPANG

In learning English, the students must master four skills. The skill that
must be mastered by the learners are speaking, reading, writing and listening. And
speaking is an important part because the people can communicate to each other
and get information from it.
An English teacher, nowdays face many obstacles to make the students
can speak English fluently. To overcome the obstacles the English teacher should
try to use many strategies, method, or technique in teaching and learning process.
By using the strategies, methods, or techniques the students can motivate by
following the teaching and learning process and can make the students active in
the classroom. One of the technique that use by the English teacher is time token
technique. So, the researcher dicide to conduct the research under the title “ The
Implementation of Time Token Technique on Students’ speaking English Skill at
Eight Grade of Islamic Juinor High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan
Karang Penang Sampang.
There are four research focuses in this research. The first, how the teacher
implement the time token technique on students’ speaking English skill at eight
grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan Karang
Penang Sampang. The second, what are the obstacles faced by the teacher in
implementing the time token technique on students’ speaking English skill at
eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan
Karang Penang Sampang. The third, how does the teacher overcome the obstacles
in implementing the time token technique on students’ speaking English skill at
eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan
Karang Penang Sampang. The last, what are the students’ response in
implementing the time token technique on students’ speaking English skill at
eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan
Karang Penang Sampang.
There are four objectives of this research. The first, to describe the
implementation of time token technique on students speaking English skill at
eight grade of Islamic Juniorb High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan
Karang Penang Sampang. The second, to find out the obstacles faced by the
teacher in implementing the time token technique on students speaking English
skill at eight grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber
Logan Karang Penang Sampang. The third, to know the teacher overcome invii
implementing the time token technique on students speaking English skill at eight
grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan Karang
Penang Sampang. The last, to know the students’ response in implementing the
time token technique on students’ speaking English skill at eight grade of Islamic
Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan Karang Penang Sampang.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach, while the kind of
research is descriptive because the researcher intended to describe how the teacher
implement the time token technique on students’ speaking English skill in
teaching and learning process.
The location of this research is at Islamic Junior High School Miftahul
Ulum II Sumber Logan Karang Penang Sampang, the researcher take the data at
eight garde which consist of 19 students, to collect the data the researcher uses
three instruments, the first observation, interview and documentation. The
researcher become passive participant, it’s only see and watching the teaching and
learning process. The source of data is from the result oif interviwed by the
English teacher and students at eight grade of Islamic Junior High School
Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan Karang Penang Sampang.
The result of this research found that there are three steps in the
implementation of time token technique on students’ speaking English at eight
grade of Islamic Junior High School Miftahul Ulum II Sumber Logan Karang
Penang Sampang. They are; pre-teaching, whilst teaching and post teaching. Some
obstacles face by the English teacher. Based on the obstacles that faced by the
English teacher, the english teacher can not manage the classroom well because of
there are some students did not pay attention when the teacher explain the
material, and make the situation crowded and etc. And the teacher give solution,
the English teacher motivated students and make the the teaching and learning
process run well.
Based on the result above the English teacher in implementing the time
token technique is success although there are many obstacles in teaching and
learning process but the English teacher can overcome the obtacles and give
solution by motivating the students.
