THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STRING GAME IN TEACHING LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY AT THE SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SDN KAMONDUNG 1 SAMPANG

Teaching vocabulary is one of the important elements in language that
should be understood by the learners because it supports the learning of the
language skills development in order to master target language. It’s a core
component of language profiency and provides much of the basis for how well
learners speak, listen, read, and write. As we know that to help the learners
memorizing vocabulary, it is important to make the learning process is fun,
because the fun factor can help the word more memorable. So, the learners can
memorize and master the vocabulary more easily. Game is an activity with rule,
goals, and element of fun, it means that vocabulary can be learnt by game.
In this case, the researcher wants to know the use of string game in
teaching and learning vocabulary at the sixth grade of SDN Kamondung 1
Sampang and to know the students’ responses of the use of string game in the
class. So that the researcher here did a research which was focused on “How does
the teacher use string game in teaching learning vocabulary at the sixth grade of
SDN Kamondung 1 Sampang ?” and “How do the students respond in learning
string games at the sixth grade of SDN Kamondung 1 Sampang ?”.
In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative approach
because this research focused mainly on analysis the use of string game in
teaching learning vocabulary at the sixth grade of SDN Kamondung 1 Sampang.
To get the data, the researcher did observation to the classroom when teaching
learning process. The researcher did an interview with the teacher and the students
of SDN Kamondung 1 Sampang and also the researcher took student’s name list
and lesson plan as documentation. To validity the data the researcher used
triangulation technique.
The result of the research, the researcher found how the teacher use the
string game in classroom and teaching learning process is succesfull. Next the
students showed the positive responses to the use of string game in the classroom.
The students’ responses are students looked more active, motivated and interested
to the subject and the students looked so enthusiastic joining the subject in the
classroom.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for English teacher should
choose a good and suitable technique to make the students understand about the
material. It is also suggested for the students at SDN Kamondung 1 Sampang
should realize that the vocabulary is not difficult, and they should also increase
the vocabulary although without their teacher guidance. And for other researcher,
the writer expexted the other researcher can create the interesting research by
using the other techniques as shown in this research.
