THE USE OF QUESTION AND ANSWER STRATEGY ON THE STUDENTS SPEAKING SKILL AT THE SEVENTH GRADE OF SMP MAARIF 2 PAMEKASAN

Speaking is an important thing for the student, because it can help them
to communicate between one person to another. Through speaking, they can
express their mind freely. They can practice their speaking by making a dialogue
or conversation in many places such as in the school. So English teacher the use
best way to make speaking class more active and interesting in learning speaking.
Question and answer strategy is one of the strategy that the English teacher in
SMP Maarif 2 Pamekasan.
There are two research problems in this study. The first is how the teacher
use question and answer strategy on the students speaking skill at the seventh
grade of SMP Maarif 2 Pamekasan. And the second is how the teacher overcome
the obstacles in the using of question and answer strategy.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative as the approach of the
research and kind of the research is descriptive. The data sources are the English
teacher of seventh F class and the students of this class. In collecting the data,
the researcher uses some procedures those are observation, interview and
documentation. And to analyzed the data, the researcher using three steps namely
data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Validity of the data the
researcher used triangulation source.
The use of question and answer strategy is conducted in three step,
opening activity, main activity, closing activity. strategy the teacher that used
note in paper in question and answer strategy. the student use write a paper ask
for student in teaching learning process. There are some obstacles that found of
the teacher such as: the student are less confidence, the students lack of
vocabularies when in learning process. This is the overcome for the teacher
obstacles such as: the teacher ask to make dialogue and give new vocabulary and
the student to come forward to read their dialogue without hold book and the
teacher thought the material using the blackboard.
Based on the result of research above, it is suggested for the English
teacher to give more attention to the students. and it is also suggested for the
students to practice the language through speaking and not afraid to speak English
in the class to help students to be more confidence to reach the goal learning
