TEACHING ENGLISH BY USING PELMANISM GAME ON STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AT THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 PADEMAWU

Reading is one of activities of four language skills which is very
important to make student more interactive in the class. Reading needs
comprehending when the students are reading. There are many ways to
make teaching English on reading skill more enjoyable and interactive. In
this case, the English teacher of junior high school 1 Pademawu uses
pelmanism game in teaching reading comprehension at the seventh grade
students.
There are three research focuses in this study. Firstly, is How does
the teacher teach English by using Pelmanism Game on students’ reading
comprehension at the seventh grade students of Junior High School 1
Pademawu. Secondly, What are the problems faced by the teacher in
teaching English by using Pelmanism Game on students’ reading
comprehension at the seventh grade students of Junior High School 1
Pademawu. Thirdhly, How does the teacher overcame the problems in
teaching English by using Pelmanism Game on students’ reading
comprehension at the seventh grade students of Junior High School 1
Pademawu.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative as the approach of
the research and kind of the research is descriptive. To collect the data, the
researcher uses observation by entering to the classroom directly,
interview with the teacher and documentation by taking picture in the
teaching learning process. The researcher then analyzes the data by data
reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.
The result of this research shows that in using pelmanism game in
teaching learning process of reading comprehension at the seventh grade
students of junior high school Pademawu used pre-teaching, whilstteaching,
and post-teaching. It also there are some problems in using
pelmanism game, some of them: The students do not know to make the
meaning structured correctly, difficult to understand the meaning of the
unfamiliar words, not comprehend the teacher instruction of that activity,
and lack motivation. While the problems solve that got by the teacher: The
students prepare by bring a complete dictionary, gave the students some
vocabulary, and gave suggestion and motivation
Based on the result above, it was success and makes the students
motivate and interested in teaching learning process of reading
comprehension when the teacher gave reading text to the students, the
students can do easily.
