GRAMMATICAL ERROR ON TELLING UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING PERFORMANCE AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE AT MAN PAMEKASAN

Grammar is a description of rule that govern how language’s sentence
are formed. Grammar is important thing to write everything, beside that it
important to communicate in daily life. By grammar, the sentence will be correct
and grammatical. But most of students do not know how to use grammar well and
sometime students make many errors like in telling unforgettable experience that
included in recount text, unforgettable experience is that explain about the
experience that happen in the past.
There are three problems in this research. First, how is the process of
students’ speaking performance to tell their unforgettable experience at the
eleventh grade at MAN Pamekasan? The second, what are grammatical errors that
students make in telling unforgettable experience at the eleventh grade at MAN
Pamekasn? And the third, how the teacher correct the students’ grammatical
error? The objective of this research is: first to describe the process of students’
speaking performance to tell their unforgettable experience at eleventh grade at
MAN Pamekasn. The second to know the grammatical error that student make in
telling unforgettable experience on students speaking performance at the eleventh
grade at MAN Pamekasan. And the third to know the teacher correct the students’
grammatical error.
In this case the researcher used descriptive qualitative. The researcher
got the data from the interview, observation and documentation. The data analysis
that the researcher used are data reduction, data display and conclusion
drawing/verification. To check the data validity, the researcher used triangulation
of source, in this researcher the researcher use detailed description technique
source to compare and check validity the information gotten.
The result of this research showed the students got the difficulties to tell
about their unforgettable experience, it is because of the students dislike English
and the students also did not understand about English especially grammar. There
were some kinds of grammatical errors that the students made when the students
tell about their unforgettable experience, such as: Omission errors, Addition errors
and misinformation errors.
Based on the result above, it was suggested to English teacher should
apply some technique to help the students easier to understand about the topic
especially recount text and also the students should understand about grammar
because this is the key to compose and to tell something.
