THE USE OF HOTSPOT GAME IN LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SMPN 1 GALIS PAMEKASAN

Learning English has been taught from kindergarten untill university.
English is very important to be learnt that have four skills, they are reading,
writing, listening, and speaking. It supported by the learning of language
elements. One of the language element is vocabulary. Vocabulary is very
important to support other aspects in learning English. The students will get easy
in learning all of the skills if they can master some vocabularies, because
vocabulary will support the learning of language skill development.
There are two research focuses in this study. The first, the use of HotSpot
game in learning English vocabulary at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Galis
Pamekasan. The second, the students’ difficulties using HotSpot game in learning
English vocabulary at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Galis Pamekasan.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach. While kind of
research is descriptive research. Because it is intended to describe how a student
using HotSpot game in learning English vocabulary at the eigth grade of SMPN 1
Galis Pamekasan and the students’ difficulties using HotSpot game in learning
English vocabulary at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Galis Pamekasan.
The result of this research found that Hotspot game is used by the students
of the eighth class in learning English vocabulary. And the students used the game
well and it have been prepared before by the English teacher. The students’
difficulties using HotSpot game are the students do not understand what their
friends say, the students confused what the words will say which is suitable for
the clues, sometimes the students using their gesture to make understanding of the
clues.
Based on the result above, it can be drawn a conclusion that the use of
HotSpot game in learning English vocabulary is succesful and gave advantages
for teacher and students in teaching learning process. Also it was suitable game
applied to teach english vocabulary.
