THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ANAGRAMS CROSSWORD GAME AND STUDENT’S ENGLISH VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF MTsN PARTEKER PAMEKASAN

Vocabulary is very important to improve the student skill,
because vocabulary is one of the language component and as a base of a
language. There are two problems in this research, that are does the
better the teacher use anagrams crossword game, the higher student’s
vocabulary mastery and how significant is the correlation between
anagrams crossword game and student’s English vocabulary mastery at
the Eighth grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan.
The research design of this research is using quantitative research.
This research uses non experimental design namely correlation
approach involve two variables, independent variable is anagrams
crossword game and dependent variable is vocabulary mastery. The
population of this research is the eighth grade student of MTsN Parteker
pamekasan and also as the sample of this research is A class consist of
24 students. While the instrument used in this research was
questionnaire, test and documentation. This research was done for nine
days, from 27th November - 05th December 2016. The technique of data
uses is statistical analysis exactly product moment analysis.
The result of this research showed there is statistically significant
correlation between anagrams crossword game and student’s English
vocabulary mastery at eighth grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan. It is
proven from the result of correlation coefficient product moment that rxy
(0.852) is higher than rtable product moment with N=24 in significant
level of 5% and 1% (5%=0.852 > 0.404) and 1% (0.852 > 0.515). It
include to the table interpretation between 0,70-0,90 in the level strong
correlation. Then the hypothesis states there is significant correlation of
using anagrams crossword game on student’s English vocabulary
mastery at the eighth grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan is accepted.
Based on the research result above it is suggested for English
teacher. As English teacher should be creative in teaching learning
process, Create an interesting method in teaching English especially in
teaching vocabulary, make student spirit and smart in learning English,
one of them is by using anagrams crossword game.
