ANALYSIS ON FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE AND DENOTATION, CONNOTATION MEANING OF CHAIRIL ANWAR’S SEVEN POEMS

There are two reason that influence the researcher to analysis Chairil Anwar’s poems.
The first reason, researcher interest to analysis figurative language and meaning of
Chairil Anwar’s poems because Anwar’s poems contain beautiful figurative language
and deep meaning then researcher want to know the message and value can get of
Chairil Anwar’s seven poems are Me, To a Beggar, Patience, Some are Plundered
Some Escape, Mirat’s Young Chairil’s Young, Let This Evening Go By and To a
Friend, tells about life, sadness, happiness, social, heroism and romantic.
Research problem of this research is: the fist what kinds of figurative language and
meaning can be found in Chairil Anwar’s seven poems Me, To a Beggar, Patience,
Some are Plundered Some Escape, Mirat’s Young Chairil’s Young, Let This Evening
Go By and To a Friend. The second how to get a message of Chairil Anwar’s seven
poems. Meanwhile, research objective of this research is to know kinds of figurative
language and meaning also to know how the message in Chairil Anwar’s poems. But,
this scope of the research is in figurative language context there are hyperbole,
personification, symbol, repetition, simile, and sinestesia. Meanwhile, the meaning is
scope in connotation and denotation.
Kinds of research that used is library research with uses qualitative approach and that
offer by Abraham in literary work are expressive approach and objective approach,
meanwhile the kind of method that is qualitative descriptive method in library
research through a psychological approach to literature. The researcher depict of data
in descriptive. The data take of Chairil Anwar’s seven poems Me, To a Beggar,
Patience, Some are Plundered Some Escape, Mirat’s Young Chairil’s Young, Let This
Evening Go By and To a Friend. Data collection use documentation, the researcher
search and choose also collect and read the data that contain figurative language,
meaning, and message then analyze Chairil Anwar’s poems.
Result of research is finding be related figurative language, meaning, and message of
Chairil Anwar’s poems. Meanwhile, Chairil Anwar’s seven poems contain anout life,
unrest, sadness, happiness, experience, and love.
