Reading is very important for the students in learning English Language.
Reading help the students enrich their knowledge about English. However,
learning English is a difficult and a boring lesson for students, especially for
reading subject. Therefore, it is important for the teacher to attract the students’
interest using a good media and choose suitable strategy, method and technique
to guide the students to read and to comprehend the material. Parable is a short
simple story, which teaches a moral or religious principle. It makes the students
try to challenge their self-understanding one to another. It persuades the reader
in order to be interest what the thing in the parable. It is also attract the students
to be active reader.
This research consists of two focuses. they are how does the teacher use
parable as media in teaching reading subject at Elementary class of ANEC (AnNasyiin English Course) Grujugan, Larangan, Pamekasan and what are the
obstacles of the use parable as media that use by the teacher in teaching reading
subject at Elementary class of ANEC (An-Nasyiin English Course) Grujugan,
Larangan, Pamekasan.
The main objectives of this research are to answer the research problem
and describe it. This research was conducted by using qualitative approach that
this research only describes the data without any statistical process. So,
researcher chooses the kind of research using descriptive research. The location
and subject of this research is the teacher at Elementary class of ANEC (AnNasyiin English Course). To collect the data the teacher use interview,
observation, and documentation. To analysis the data the researcher did four
steps: data identifying, classifying, describing, and drawing conclusion.
The researcher does the observation for times. On 19 December 2015, 02
January 2016, 16 January 2016, 30 January 2016. Based on the observation
there three activities had done by the teacher in the classroom in teaching
reading subject. These are pre-teaching, whilst-teaching, and post-teaching.
Based on the result, the researcher concluded that the implementing of
parable as media in teaching reading subject at Elementary class of ANEC is a
good media to apply by the English teacher to make the students become
interest, curious, enthusiast and also active in teaching learning process. But
there are three obstacles in the use of parable as media in teaching reading
subject, these are: process of choosing the topic must be suitable with students
backgroun and students’ ability process took much time.
