AN ANLYSIS OF METAPHOR IN TAYLOR SWIFT'S SONG LYRICS

Song lyric is kind of literary work. Where in this literary work usually
used figurative language. For example, metaphor. The metaphor is used in song
lyric as a way to convey expresion, feeling or idea differently. In other word, it
delivered indirectly. Metaphor is used to compare two unlike things. This study
focuses on the metaphors that are found in Taylor Swift's song lyrics by using the
theory of Lakoff and Johnson. They said that metaphor is used to understanding
and comprehension something by using comprehension of something else. So,
metaphor is not only expression, but also it is a concept of human’s though.
Based on the case above, it can be appointed two research problems of this
study in which they are: What are the types of Metaphor found in Taylor Swift’s
song lyrics? And What is the meaning of type of Metaphor found in Taylor
Swift’s song lyrics? While the objective of this study is to explain the types of
metaphor in Taylor Swift’s song lyrics. It also aims to explain the meaning type of
metaphor in Taylor Swift’s song lyrics.
This study is conducted by using psycologycal approach in library
research. Because in psycologycal approach basically related with that author,
literary work and the reader and also the data in this study utilize of library source.
This study is used descriptive analysis method to describe the result of Taylor
Swift’s song lyrics analysis.
The result of this study are some finding that related with metaphor in
Taylor Swift’s song lyrics which is devided into three types. The researcher finds
20 datas. The reseacher finds three types of metaphor, 10 datas which are
categorized as structural metaphor, 4 datas are included into orientational
metaphor, and 6 datas are categorized as ontological metaphor.
