Communication is an essential need for human being. Language as the tool
of communication has an important role to reveal an intention to someone else.
One of the ways in communication is through speaking. It is very important to
master speaking well. To master speaking ability, students must be trained to use
English in communication orally.
In teaching English at the Eighth grade of MTs. Zahratut Thullab, the teacher
teaches the students traditionally. They let the students only memorize the
vocabulary. This teacher centered technique makes the student passive in
learning English.The traditional method influences the teaching of speaking
in which there are the researcher focus one of problem “How can the use of Pair
Work Strategy improve the students’ speaking skill at the eighth grade of MTs.
Zahratutu Thullab Talela Camplong Sampang”? and To know how the Use of pair
work strategy improve the students’ speaking skill at the eighth grade of MTs
Zahratut Thullab Banjar Talela Camplong Sampang.Couse those problem the
researcher use Pair Work Strategy to Improve Student Speaking Skill.
In this case the researcher design of this research is Classroom Action
Research (CAR). This methodology is following the model consist of four stages
i.e: planning, action, observation, and evaluation and reflection. by using two
cycles, cycle I and cycle 2 in which each cycle contributed the four phases as
mention above. In planning phase, the teacher plans to make an action based on
the problems that need to be solved.They also motivated to Speak English, They
became active and full of concentration in the classroom during the lesson.While
the students’ responses is positive. It appears when the students stated that this
strategy can help them to be brave in joining the lesson. So, they can be easier to
comprehend the material.
According to the statement above, the researcher concludes that this strategy
can help the students more active. The researcher suggests that the English teacher
should be more creative in teaching english, especially in teaching speaking.
Because the teacher’s role influences the students’ activeness in the class and also
become motivation to be spirit and always interested in learning.
