THE EFFECT OF ENGLISH WEEK PROGRAM ON THE FEMALE STUDENTS' SPEAKING SKILL AT SIXTH GRADE OF MMAI MATHLABUL ULUM JAMBU LENTENG SUMENEP

Speaking English is needed by many people as means of communication each
other and with other nation in the international relation. It means that students
must know speak English language to easily them in communication. Speaking is
not easy for language learner, because in speaking language learner not only focus
on verbal communication but also the elements of speech such as the connected
speech, the expressive devise act. Learning speak is obviously more difficult than
learning to understand the spoken language.It means that, students need regulation
or program to increase their English, one way by using English week program,
because by using regulation or program, student should be habitual to speak by
English language by that program and the students have better speaking skill. This
research has a purpose to find out the answer from the statement of the problem.
The purpose of this research is to find out, there is any effect or not
ofEnglish week programon students’ speaking skill. While the second is to know
how significance the effect of English week program on the female student’s
speaking skill at sixth grade of MMAI MathlabulUlumJambuLentengSumenep.
This research design is experimental research, which, namely true
experimental research and the instrument research used pre-test and post test, the
population is the female students at sixth grade of MMAI Mathlabul Ulum Jambu
Lenteng Sumenep, and the sample of this research is all class of female students at
sixth grade. While the data were taken from oral test, after the students gave the
pretest,they were given the treatment during two week. Then, the data were
analyzed by using t –test method to know effect or not English week program on
the female students speaking skillat sixth grade of MMAI Mathlabul Ulum Jambu
Lenteng Sumenep and how significant is the effect of English week program on
female students’ speaking skill at sixth grade of MMAI Mathlabul Ulum Jambu
Lenteng Sumenep.
The result of this research,the reseacher used df 60, because df 50 there is not
in t- table,so,the reseacher uses df 60 that closed with df 50. Df 60 t-value is
higher than t-table either in 95%( 1,67 ) or 99%(2,39 )˂ 10,402. From the result
above,it can concluded that Ha (Alternative hypothesis)is accepted and the
HO(Null hypothesis) is rejected. So,the hypothesis states that there is any effect of
English week program onfemale students’ speaking skill at sixth grade of MMAI
Mathlabul Ulum Jambu Lenteng Sumenep, and the effect of English week is
significant.vi
The reseacher hopes this study not only can be used by the students and
teachers, but also can be used by institution especially for MMAI Mathabul Ulum
Jambu Lenteng Sumenep, reader, researcher as one way to enrich the refrence in
the improving the students’speaking skill
