THE STUDY ON TEACHING MEDIA USED BY STUDENTS IN TEACHING PRACTICE 1 SUBJECT AT THE SIXTH SEMESTER OF TADRIS BAHASA INGGRIS (TBI) STAIN PAMEKASAN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017

Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) students at STAIN Pamekasan as the
candidate of English teacher must know how to make and use a certain media
well. To pass Teaching Practice 1 subject, the students must teach English lesson
well. The class of Teaching Practice 1 completes with Liquid Cristal Display
(LCD) and projector which help the students to design creative class. Besides that
the student may use other media likes puppet, real thing, and others which is made
by themselves. Therefore, there are two objectives of this research are: (1) To
know kinds of media and (2) the advantages of media used by students in teaching
practice 1 subject at the sixth semester of Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) STAIN
Pamekasan Academic Year 2016/2017.
This research is descriptive qualitative research. The researcher is the main
instrument as the data collector, observer, and analyzer. In conducting of research
the researcher does observation, interview, and documentation to the subject and
object of this research which is conducting in STAIN Pamekasan. Subject of this
research is Teaching Practice 1 Student. Meanwhile, the object of this research is
students’ media. The data collection analyses by using three steps of Miles
Huberman’s perspective are data condensation, data display, and drawing
conclusion or verification. To ensure the data validity the researcher checks by
triangulation data.
From the research findings the researcher has known that the students’
media could determine only in two kinds, those are visual media and audio visual
media. Basically, by using media did not only make the class is interesting, but
also can be generating student’s motivation to learn English, helping the student
(teacher trainee) to teach easily, make the student understand to the topic easily
which made the teaching learning process ran smoothly, simple, and perfect.
Besides that, by using media could subtract the student to use their mother tongue.
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher addressed suggestion for the
student, the lecturer, and further researcher. The researcher suggests to student
who will join Teaching Practice 1 Subject to use media in teaching. The
researcher expects this research can be lecturer’s reference to suggest students to
use media in their teaching learning activity. The researcher hopes the further
researcher can make this research more perfect than today.ABSTRACT (Bahasa Indonesia)
