A Study on How the Native English Speaker Teach Diphthong to The Students of SMKN 1 Pakong

English is a foreign language. Its taught to the students since elementary school to the university. English also has four basic language component to develop. Those are listening, speaking, reading and writing. The fourth of the basic language component above, the most important is speaking. English has many kinds of the materials that to be taught as like diphthong. For intermediate levels of course they do not know what is diphthong because they never learn or introducing it with their teacher. Although, they learn diphthong unconsciousness. Diphthong is part of vowel or we call it another short of vowel which is combines two different positions in sequence. It will be hard for non native English to taught it. In this case, the alternative to teach diphthong with applying the native English speaker. Native English speaker is an individual is a native speaker of language by virtue of place or country of bird.
There are two problems in this study. The first, How the Native English Speaker teach diphthong to the students of SMKN 1 Pakong? The second, How can the Native English Speaker help the students’ pronounciation through the teaching of diphthong? In this research also, the researcher uses qualitative approach. While the kinds of research the researcher is used study case. In collecting the data the researcher used three techniques. Those are observation, interview and documentation. The result of this research also show that teaching diphthong applying native English speaker with games into different meeting on twice. The name of the games are the five square preferences speaking activity on the first meeting and schedules match lis-speak activities. Beside that, on this result also the native English speaker push the students on repeatation and imitation the sounds’ word as like the native English speaker. So that, the result of the students’ pronounciation had similar sound of English.
Based on the result of research above teaching diphthong with games is effective to be use in teaching speaking. The native English speaker also can give solution to the problems that faced by the students. The solution that give with the native English speaker like’s order the students more active on practice English in classroom or in outside class.
