English is International language that learned by the students as a compulsory subject at any educational institution in Indonesia. English consists of four skills which have to be mastered by students. One of them is writing skill. While, according Jill Hadfield and Charles Hadfield writing is difficult skill for students, even in their mother tongue. So, it needs to build the motivation to help the students to do activities that they want to do, especially writing skill.
In this study there are two problems of the research. The first is whether there is the correlation of English students motivation to the English students writing skill for eighth grade of State Junior High School 2 Larangan Pamekasan in 2014 - 2015 academic year. The second is how the statistic significance of English students motivation to the English students writing skill for eighth grade of State Junior High School 2 Larangan Pamekasan in 2014 - 2015 academic year. This research is to know the correlation and to measure the statistic significance of English students motivation to the English students writing skill for eighth grade of State Junior High School 2 Larangan Pamekasan in 2014 - 2015 academic year.
This study applied quantitative research with correlation as the research design. In this research, the population was all of the students eighth grade in State Junior High School 2 Larangan Pamekasan whereas the sample is E class as excellent class. Research instrument which used are documentation, questioner, test and interview. The obtained data from the instruments were analyzed by using correlation product moment formula.
The result showed that there is correlation of English students motivation to the English students writing skill is statistically significant at the level of 0,05. It is proven that r product moment higher than r table (0,406 > 0,349).
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the English teacher to be able to apply some strategies to build students motivation. So, the students can produce good writing skill without any burden for them.
