The Implementation of Sequence Picture Story as Media for Students’ Writing Skill at the First Grade of Miftahul Ulum Karangdurin

Every student in junior and senior high school has to develop four skills to aid their schooling and to communicate perfectly: those are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. But to aid written communication, writing is the first one that has to broaden by them. Besides that, writing is assertion model to accomplish their school duty. To conduct the text, they need writing strategy and technique in order they will write correctly. It also helps the learner to be active and creative, such as use sequence picture story as media. The main problem of this research are how the implantation of sequence picture story and what the strengths and weaknesses of the sequence picture story for students’ writing skill at the first grade of Miftahul Ulum Senior High School Sampang, because sequence picture story as media is one of writing technique that can help the learner easier to write sequent.
Media is an instrument to communicate or give information, it can make students get English subject easily because students get stimulate from the media. While picture as media stimulate thinking, ideas and provide a context for learners to write because picture has story on it. But sometimes students have difficulties to make the story sequent and completely. While, sequence picture story can help the students make a story sequentially.
In this research, the researcher used qualitative research approach exactly descriptive research design, and setting of this research is all of the first grade of Miiftahul Ulum Senior High School. The instruments used in collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. The technique of data analysis used is non-statistical data analyzing.
The result of this research showed that the implementation of sequence picture story as media is already run well. In which the implementation involve showing and sharing sequence picture to students, doing the writing task, evaluation and discussion of students’ worksheets. While the strengths of sequence picture story made the students more interactive, easier to get idea, improving the students’ motivation in writing, having more time to write. While the weaknesses are less of explanation about the structure used and the writing form, and the sequence picture was not large enough, and made the teacher more lazy.
Based on the result of this research can be concluded that implementation of sequence picture story as media in students’ writing skill is already carried out well. So, the researcher suggests the teacher to use sequence picture story as media in teaching English writing because this media is useful for the students to improve their writing skill and it must carry with appropriate technique
