The Influence of Writing Feedback to The Students' Self-esteem on Writing Task at The Tenth Grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan

Writing as the important skill has a role in indirect communication. In writing we can put our mind and ideas in a paper without limited written. But we have to know the rule of written English such as the content, mechanic, language use, etc. In writing there are direct and indirect feedback. Both of them as correcting of the result of students’ writing that used by teacher in English teaching and learning. The student will know what is the error and mistake that do by them in learning English. So, the student can correct and improve their writing skill.
This is a quantitative research. There are two problems in this research. First, does writing feedback influence to the students’ self-esteem on the writing task at SMAN 2 Pamekasan. Second, how significant level is influence of writing feedback to the students’ self-esteem on writing task at SMAN 2 Pamekasan. Based in the two research problems, there are two research objectives. The first, the research conducted to measure how the writing feedback can influence and the second is to measure how significant the influence of writing feedback.
The population of this research is at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan which consists of 317 students. The researcher takes sample in X-IPA 2 consists of 36 students. This research uses a quantitative approach by using statistical method namely correlation coefficient r product moment. The instruments which were used in conducting the research are documentation, test and questionnaire.
The result of this research shows that the influence of writing feedback to the students’ self-esteem on writing task at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan is rather sufficient interpretation. It is proved from the result of score 0,492 is consulted with the table interpretation of coefficient correlation r product moment in interpretation 0,40 till 0,70 is sufficient interpretation. And the result of how the significant influence of writing feedback to the students’ self-esteem on writing task at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan is rather sufficient significant. It is proven by the result of score of r df=34 got score 0,492 is higher than the table of coefficient r product moment in level standard 5% is 0,329. Based on the result of this research above, there is the influence of writing feedback to the students’ self-esteem on writing task at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan.
