Curriculum is development focuses on determining what knowledge, skill and values students learn in school what experience should to bring about intended learning outcomes, and how teaching and learning in school or educational system can be planed, measured, and evaluated. Active learning is a process wherein students are actively engaged in building understanding of facts, ideas, and skills through the completion of instructor directed tasks and activities. One problem that the teacher using 2013 curriculum in teaching learning process, the students must active every lesson, and how to teach make students active than passive.
There are two questioning problems. The first, How is the effectiveness of active learning strategy used by English teacher through 2013 curriculum and the second, How does the teacher motivate students’ to active learning strategy through 2013 curriculum.
So, this research conducted to explain the effectiveness of active learning strategy used by English teacher through 2013 curriculum and then to describe the teacher motivate students’ to active learning strategy through 2013 curriculum.
The researcher used qualitative descriptive as the method of research. Qualitative research is an inquiry approach useful for exploring and understanding a central phenomenon. The objective of research is the teacher and the students. Qualitative descriptive have characteristic in this study. Qualitative research need descriptive data which are collected data in the form of words or picture rather than number. The researcher collected of the data by using observation, interview, and documentation.
The result, the researcher find the effectiveness of active learning strategy used by English teacher through 2013 curriculum such as effective, role playing, active learning, enthusiasm. The teacher often use role playing so that students can directly follow English lesson in the class, the teacher also use 2013 curriculum between: observation, asking, experiment, assosiation and communication to answer question from the teacher. The teacher always give motivation to students so that they always active with media there is workbook fairly one by one the teacher ask to the students for give answer from some of picture after observed by students. And then the teacher asked to tries exercise come forward. After that the teacher correct students exercise.
