Speaking is one of the skills that’s very important in language skill. Where speaking is a tool to express Idea naturally. In this case speaking is thaught in the school because it’s importance to be mastered and in this research speaking is taught by using practice rehearsal pairs technique. Practice Rehearsal Pairs is one type of active learning technique, it will motivate student to be active in the classroom. Practice rehearsal pairs are conducted in pairs. Before they perform in front of the classroom, they practice speaking in pair by exchange the role.This practice continuous until all skill are rehearsed.
There are two research focuses in this study, the first is How the teacher implement practice rehearsal pairs technique in teaching speaking English for the eighth grade students at MTs. DarulUlum. And the second one is How Practice Rehearsal pairs technique help students in speaking English for the eighth grade students at MTs. DarulUlum.
This study is to describe how the teacher implements practice rehearsal pairs technique in teaching speaking English for the eighth grade students at MTs. Darul Ulum. And To describe How Practice Rehearsal pairs technique helps students in speaking for the eighth grade students at MTs. DarulUlum.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach in collecting the data, the researcher intended to describes how the teacher implements “Practice rehearsal pairs technique” in teaching speaking. In this case, kind of research is descriptive research. Source of data are the english teacher and the eighth grade students of MTs.DarulUlum. Data collection procedure used observation, interview and documentation. And checking validity of data is use triangulation and member checking.
The result of this researh is describe The implementation of Practice Rehearsal Pairs technique in teaching speaking foreighth grade students in MTs. Darul Ulum, Gili Raja Sumenep used three activities. They are pre-teaching, whilst-teaching, and post-teaching. And in whilst teaching practice rehearsal pairs is implemented. The first, the teacher Select the topic that wants participant master. And divide the participant in to pairs. Each pair has a role as demonstrator and checker. Second, the teacher asked the demonstrator explains or demonstrate and the checker verify that demonstration is correct. Third, the teacher asked the partners exchange the roles. Fourth, the teacher asked to continuous the practicing until rehearsed and after that the teacher ask the student to perform in front of the class without text. of practice rehearsal pairs technique help student to speak, the dominant things that help student in speaking is in practice rehearsal, it can make student self confident to speak in front of the classroom because they have preparation before, moreover practice rehearsal pairs it can motivate student to be more active in the classroom. Speak in pair also can reduce students’ nervous.
Based on the result above, it is suggested to the English teachertobe more creative in using strategies or technique in teaching learning process of speaking in order to the students more interest in speaking subject. And suggest to the students to learn English seriously, especially in speaking subject.
