Students’ Difficulties in Learning Speaking at English Teaching Learning Program on second semester STAIN Pamekasan

Speaking is one of skill very important in English teaching learning STAIN Pamekasan from the other skill like listening, reading and writing. Mastering of speaking is the single most important aspect of learning a second of foreign language. The researcher found that some students’ face some difficulties in learning speaking. When the teacher gives speaking task, then, students come forward to speak English (students’ performance) they fell nevous. It also can be seen at from the students’ score in learning speaking that are mostly low. In the fact, there are many students cannot speak anything in speaking class. They keep silent all the time and only listening to the lecturer or their friend utterances.
In this research there are three research focuses, the first is difficulties faced by English department students in learning speaking, factors influenced difficulties faced by English department students in learning speaking and the last is how the students solve their problems.
The researcher use qualitative research as approach of research and descriptive as kind of research. Sources of data is speaking lecturer in second semester at A, B and C class and the students in this class. In collect the data, the researcher use research procedures are observation, interview and documentation. And then the researcher analyze with reduction, display and verification. In addition, to get the validity of data the researcher uses source triangulation.
The result of this research shows that the students’ difficulties in learning speaking are lack of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, fluency. Most of students said that these components become the difficulties faced by them in speaking. The factors influencing the students in learning speaking include un confidence, feel afraid the mistake, less preparation. These factors very influence students when they speak because of them the students can express their idea. The solution done by students in solves their problem in speaking include speaking practice, memorizing vocabulary, motivate themselves to speak up, make small club, sharing with our friend
From the statement above, suggest to the speaking lecturer to more selected in apply the interesting strategies for students and suitable with students condition and always give motivation to students increase their speaking skill with always practice and enrich their vocabulary.
