In teaching English there are “four skills”. They are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The students will get easy in learning all of the skills if they can master some vocabularies, because vocabulary will support the learning of language skill development.
There are three research focuses in this study. The first, the implementation of I Spy game on students’ vocabulary learning at the seventh Grade of MTs Darul Ulum Ponjanan Barat Batu Marmar Pamekasan. The second, the obstacles faced by the teacher and the students in learning I spy game at the seventh Grade of MTs Darul Ulum Ponjanan Barat Batu Marmar Pamekasan. The third, how the teacher overcomes the obstacles faced by the teacher and the students in learning I spy game at the seventh Grade of MTs Darul Ulum Ponjanan Barat Batu Marmar Pamekasan
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach. While kind of research, the researcher uses descriptive research. Because it is intended to describe how the teacher implements I Spy game on students’ vocabulary learning at the seventh Grade of MTs Darul Ulum Ponjanan Barat Batu Marmar Pamekasan.
The result of this research found that I Spy game is implemented by the English teacher in teaching vocabulary. And the teacher implemented the game well. Obstacles faced by the students are the students are lack of vocabulary, the students cannot determine the word class. While obstacles faced by the teacher are the teacher got difficulty to mention the vocabulary that the students ask by using their mother tongue, and the teacher got difficulty to manage the classroom. Some solutions that the teacher gave directly when the students faced problems occurred the teacher got the students to prepare dictionary. The teacher motivated the students when the students felt shy and afraid to come forward and others.
It can be drawn a conclusion that the implementation of I Spy Game gave advantages for teacher and the students and it was suitable game applied to teach vocabulary.
