The Implementation of English Song in Teaching Listening Skill at The Eleventh Grade of IPA in SMA Negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep

In teaching learning process, there are many steps that can help teachers to make their students understand about material and enjoy in their class. Moreover, teacher gets difficulty to make their students and then enjoy in the class because students are not interested to the material. Above all, most students dislike English subject, because they think that English subject very difficult to understand. The phenomenon that happened in SMAN 1 Ambuntan Sumenep, most of the students dislike listening. One of factors that make students dislike listening is the techniques and approaches that the teacher uses not suitable with subject matter. This is caused the teacher is difficult to find strategies that correlated with the students learning style.
There are three research problems in this research. The first is how the teacher implements the English song on students’ listening skill at the eleventh grade of SMA negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep. The second is what are the problems faced by the teacher in implementing English song on students’ listening skill at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep. And the last is how does English song can make the students interest to get the points of material of listening skill.
This research is to know the teacher in implementing English song on students’ listening skill at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep, to describe some problems during activities in using English song on students’ listening skill at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep and to find out how the English song can make the students interest to get the points of material of listening skill.
The approach in this research use qualitative approach and kind of this research just describes the data without any statistical process The location of this research at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep. The data was collected by observation, interview and documentation. This research used triangulation to get valid data.
The result shows that the teacher begins his meeting by salam, check students’ attention. And before begin teaching learning use English song, the teacher introduce the material and give a piece of missing lyric paper, after that the teacher play the song three times and students fill the missing lyrics paper. And then, the teacher instructs the students to analyze the song. Then, the problems faced by the teacher during activities in using English song are the condition, facilities and students’ errors. The last, English song can make the students interest to get the points of material because the students enjoy with the teacher and like music.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the English teacher subject to improve the technique in teaches English especially listening skill and prepare good strategies in order to make students easier to get the points of material. It is suggested for students at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Ambunten-Sumenep to study hard, and improve the vocabularies of English word in order to easier understand the material.
