The Effect of Using Talking Stick Technique on Student’s Speaking Skill at the Eight Grade of SMPN 2 Pademawu

Speaking skill is difficult for foreign language learner because it is effective oral communication requires the ability to use the language appropriately in social interaction. Speaking is most important skill in English. So that in teaching speaking the teacher must create situation that can encourage real communication.
There two problems in this study. The first one, Does the use of talking stick affect on the student speaking skill at the Eight Grade of SMPN 2 Pademawu. And the second one, How significant is the effect of using talking stick technique on student speaking skill at the Eight Grade of SMPN 2 Pademawu.
This study to find out the effect of talking stick technique on student speaking skill and to measure the significant of talking technique on students’ speaking skill. This study is experimental design. There are two variable in this study, the independent variable is the use of talking stick technique and dependent variable is student speaking skill.
The population of this study is all eight grade student of SMPN 2 Pademawu. Amount 115 student. Then the researcher takes 40 students as sample of this study. The researcher divided 40 students into two group. 20 group for experimental group and 20 student for control group. Research instrument which are used are test and documentation. The study took place for three weeks, from 08th March-22th March 2014. The obtained data from test was analyzed by using independent t-test formula.
The result showed that there is an effect of talking stick technique on students’ speaking skill at the eight grade of SMPN2 Pademawu Pamekasan, and the effect is significant, the proof is the t-value is higher than t-table either in 5% or 1% ( 5%=2,02
