The Implementation of Word Wall Strategy Enriching Vocabulary on Students in Simple Speaking Class at Sabilillah English Course Sampang

Vocabulary is one of the important elements in language that should be understood by the learner of language skill development in order to master the target language.Limited vocabulary on students will have limited understanding in terms of speaking, reading, listening, and writing. In acquiring vocabulary, the students must know about English word, and also know how to use the word in learning English. Beside that, teaching vocabulary should be presented in an interesting strategies to make students be active and to enrich vocabulary in the process of teaching and learning. Therefore, the teacher uses strategy such as Word Wall in teaching vocabulary. Word Wall as a strategy has been implemented in teaching vocabulary on students in Simple Speaking Class at Sabilillah English Course Sampang.
There are two research problems in this study. The first is how the teacher implements Word Wall strategy enriching vocabulary on students in simple speaking class at Sabilillah English course Sampang. The second is what are the advantages of using Word Wall strategy enriching vocabulary on students in simple speaking class at Sabilillah English course Sampang.
In this research, the researcher used qualitative as the approach of the research and kind of the research is descriptive. The data sources are the English teacher of simple speaking class at Sabilillah English course Sampang and the students of this class. In collecting the data, the researcher used some procedures those are observation, interview, and documentation. The researcher then analyzed the data by reduction, display, and verification. Additionally, for getting the validity of the data, the researcher used triangulation of data technique.
The result of research showed Word Wall strategy is implemented by the English teacher in teaching vocabulary by using three steps. Those are pre teaching, whilst teaching, and post teaching. The implementation of this game was successful based on the result of observation guideline during teaching and learning process. Besides this strategi also has many advantages either for the teacher and the students since it helps students to memorize some vocabularies easily since they got the vocabularies before whilst teaching. In brief, this strategy can be implemented by the English teacher in teaching English, especially vocabulary.
Based on the result above, it is suggested for the English teacher to be selective in implementing strategies for language learners, in this case for vocabulary class. It should be appropriate with the students’ level in order to be successful in the class and also the students get the material easily and to have a good preparation before teaching vocabulary in the class since it determines the successful of teaching and learning process.
