English has four language skills and the students will use the language in their communication, either in spoken language and written language. In other word, writing involves communicating a message. Every student should have good writing skill, but most of them are still confused and have many difficulties to write. The case also happens in SMPN 1 Camplong Sampang. The students there obtain in making writing form. One of the ways to overcome that problem, the teacher should make interest in teaching and learning process of writing.
Then the researcher (as the teacher in the class) made a statement of problem, that is can stick figure improve writing skill in writing recount text for the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Camplong Sampang, because stick figure media may also influence to improve students’ writing skill.
In this research, the researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) that is one of the approaches to involve identifying problems that need to be solved by educational products. The problem which is found by the researcher comes from the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Camplong Sampang, namely in D class which consists of 28 students. The instruments which is used in collecting the data are observation, test and documentation.
The result of this research showed that using stick figure media to the students of SMPN 1 Camplong Sampang can improve students’ writing skill in writing recount text. It is proven from the result of tests which is given by the teacher since teaching and learning process in the classroom. The students writing score is more increase when they study by using stick figure than they only study without hold any book or the students only wait the material from the teacher in the classroom.
Based on the result above, the researcher suggests that the teacher must use any kinds of media to make the students interest in learning in the classroom. And also the students can be more active in expressing their idea and have a desire in producing good writing.
