Vocabulary is one of the most important aspects of foreign language learning. Mastering vocabulary is one of language component that determines the quality of mastering four skills.They are listening, speaking, reading and writing. In the process of teaching and learning vocabulary, the teacher should implement the games and songs to have the students feel fun with the the learning vocabulary and easy to memorize it. The games and songs have been implemented by the teacher in the fourthgradeof SDNPolagan III Pamekasan. It is very suitable with students’ interest in learning vocabulary.
There are three research problems in this research. The first is How is the implementation of games and songs in teaching vocabulary to the fourth grade of SDN Polagan III Pamekasan. The second is what are the adventages of the implementation of games and songsin teaching vocabulary to the fourth grade of SDN Polagan III Pamekasan. The third is what are the weaknesses of the implementation of games and songsin teaching vocabulary to the fourth grade of SDN Polagan III Pamekasan.
This study uses qualitative research in which the type is descriptive research. The data was taken from the observation in teaching learning process, interview to the teacher and the students, and documentation to support the data. The data then was analyzed qualitatively.
The result of this research showed that the games and songs were implemented in three steps in teaching vocabulary to the fourth grade of SDNpolagan III pamekasan in which they are, pre teaching, while teaching, and post teaching. The games employed were whisper and questions-answer games while the songs were oh rainbow and watermelon songs. Those were efficient and very useful to the students in learning vocabulary. Because it makes the students got motivation, enthusiastic, interest, fun, relax, and enjoyable in learning, besides, the students can learn vocabulary easily. And also the game and song have weaknesses because the teacher implemented it many times makes te student felt bored
It can be drawn a conclusion that the implemetation of games and songs give advantages for teachers and students and it is suitable to be applied in teaching vocabulary. Besides, it has weaknesses such as the students felt bored because had been familiar with the game and song.
