Key words: The student’s ability in using texts with picture media on teaching
reading skill, strengths and weaknesses of texts with picture media in
teaching reading skill.
Language is one of importance in our life, because by language we can communicate with other, by language we can get information more ever we could give information in the word. There are many languages in our life like, body language, mother spoken languages and etc, if we talk about language there are some languages that we have learn. In our country Indonesian language is the first language (F1), and the second language (F2) is English. Because many people think that English is important and we must learn it. English is an international language, by English we can communicate with a people who can speak English in their country.
Language is a set of rules that used by human as a tool of communication. The language skill is the performance of the speaker of a language in using their language as a tool of communication in their routines.
Based on the phenomena above, the researcher interests to take the topic “The use of texts with picture media in teaching reading skill at 6th grade of MI Al-Falah II Bangkes Kadur Pamekasan” as the research focus of the study.
From the background above, the researcher formulates the Research Problems as follows; (1). How is the teacher ability use texts with picture media on teaching reading skill at 6th grade in MI AL-FALAH II Bangkes Kadur Pamekasan ? (2). What is the strengths and weaknesses of texts with picture media in
Teaching reading skill at 6th grade in MI AL-FALAH II Bangkes Kadur Pamekasan ?
From the result of research, The researcher know the students ability about reading texts by using picture media, firstly, the researcher conclude, the English teacher of MI AL FALAH II Bangkes kadur pamekasan, though his students effectively when the teacher give the texts using picture media and the students more enthusiastic when they saw the picture on the texts. And the students interested to read the texts. Finally, the material from the teacher can be understood easily than the material from the teacher without picture media on the texts.
While, Scope and Limitations of the Problems can be formulated as follows; scope of problems in this research is English students’ abilities at the sixt grade of MI AL-FALAH II Bangkes Kadur Pamekasan, and limitation of the problems in this research is the students’ reading comprehension at the sixt grade of MI AL-FALAH II Bangkes Kadur Pamekasan.
In collecting data, the researcher used some instruments. They are observation, interview and documentations. The interview was done both the teacher and students. The researcher did the observations from November 21th 2013 - December 10th 2013 through of inside and outside the class. Then after the researcher collected the data, the researcher analyze it through data analyzing procedure as follows; identifying, classifying, analyzing and concluding the data.
At the end of the study is conclusion and suggestions. While, the conclusion gives the result of the observations as the problems that a have mentioned above. In additions, the suggestions focus on the students, teacher, of MI AL-FALAH II Bangkes Kadur Pamekasan, and the institution itself.
