Teaching vocabulary is one of the important elements in language that should be understood by the learners because it supports the learning of the language skills development in order to master the target language. It’s a core component of language proficiency and provides much of the basis for how well learners speak, listen, read and write. As we know that to help the learners memorizing vocabulary,it is important to make the learning process fun because the fun factor can help the word more memorible. So, the learner can memorize and master the vocabulary more easily. Game is an activity with role, goals, and element of fun. It mean that vocabulary can be learned by game.
In this case, the researcher wants to know the implementation of word chain game on students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade of Private Junior High School Ma’arif 4 PanempanPamekasan and to know the students’ responses of the implementation of word chain game in the class. So that, the researcher here did a research which was focused on “How does the teacher implement the word chain game on the students’ vocabulary masteryat the Eighth grade of private junior high school Ma’arif4 Panempan Pamekasan?” and “How do the students‘ responses of word chain game at the Eighth Grade of private junior high school Ma’arif 4 Panempan Pamekasan?”
In this research , the researcher used qualitative approach because this research focused mainly on analysis the Implementation of Word Chain Game on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the Eighth Grade of Private Junior High School Ma’arif 4 PanempanPamekasan. To get the data, the researcher did observation to the classroom when teaching learning process, the researcher did an interview with the teacher and the students of Private Junior High School Ma’arif 4 Panempan Pamekasan and also the researcher took the photos of some activities that have done by the teacher and the students when implemented the game in the classroom as a documentation.
The result, the researcher found how the teacher implemented the Word Chain Game on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery in clasrroom and teaching learning process is successful. Next the students showed the positive responses to the implementation of word chain game in the classroom. The students’ responses are students looked more active, motivated and interested in to the subject and the students looked so enthusiastic joining the subject in the classroom.
