A STUDY OF IRONY ON LADY GAGA’S SONG

Key word: Literary Criticism, Song, Irony.
There are some reason that influence the researcher analyze the Lady Gaga’s song. First, some of the song contain of figurative language, but the researcher interest to analyze the irony in Lady Gaga’s song. Second, her song proper to analyze and interpretation the irony,the researcher analyze this study, which are applied in ten song of Lady Gaga’s song. They are, Fooled Me Again, Honest Eyes Lyrics, Born This Way, Alejandro, Poker face, Judas, Telephone, Bad Romance, Paparazzi and You and I, The Edge Of Glory.
The focus of the study are: First, are there any irony on Lady Gaga’song and second, How irony applied on Lady Gaga’s song. While the objective of study is to know whether there are irony on Lady Gaga’s song and to investigate the irony that applied on Lady gaga’s song.
The approach of this study is qualitative while the researcher method applied in this study descriptive research by using this the researcher describes the data in the form of words. The data is taken from ten songs of Lady Gaga’s song mentioned above. The instrument of this study used documentation, the researcher has searched, collected, and read the data that contain the irony and analyze the Lady Gaga’s song.
The result of this study are some finding that related to the irony on Lady Gaga’s song. There are irony on every song, most of them there are on Judas’s song and Bad Romace’s song, etc. The Lady Gaga song is mostly about Love, Friendship, Religion and Enemy.
