Language is one of the most impressive and importantly aspect of human development. While the language need acquisition of the basic of language where the learner is focus on understanding to the language. So that it is taught written and oral. In written form, the learners need to explore their thought using a grammar and knowledge. It is very important to be mastered in grammar. In element of English grammar that is hard, to be mastered is preposition. Sometimes, when the preposition combines with certain nouns, verb or adjectives it is so difficult to understand which one the correct preposition that will use. Because the learners sometimes get confuse in using a preposition that is similar with the function. This may the cause of general error in preposition.
The focuses of this study are the preposition errors on students’ assignment and what are the difficulties that make students have error in preposition. While the objective of the first focus is to identify the preposition error on students’ assignment. Moreover, the second one is to explain the difficulties that make students have error in preposition.
This research is done to know the preposition errors on students’ assignment and what are the difficulties that make students have error in preposition. This research use descriptive qualitative design. The researcher uses three ways to get data: interview, observation, and documentation.
The preposition errors on students’ assignment are error in using preposition with, in, to, at, on, beside, and for. Moreover, there are many kind of the difficulties that make students have error in preposition. The researcher conclude that the students’ difficulties are confused in putting the preposition, confused in searching and selecting the correct preposition, there are too many preposition, and the last because many preposition have same meaning and function.
In this study, the teacher should give clear explanation about Preposition. Because many preposition have same meaning and it could trap the students in study the Preposition. In addition, for the students, they have to prepare the material before enter the class. The students should ask to the teacher if the students faced some difficulties in studying the Preposition in order to give clear explanation. Moreover, do not forget to study hard, at least you read your book
